70th Anniversary of our Society

Lamorbey and Sidcup Local History Society was formed in 1952 as an off-shoot from a local history class that met at Lamorbey Park Adult Education Centre. Initially called the Local History Group, it was renamed ‘Society’ in 1956.

On 5 April 2022 we celebrated our 70th anniversary with 70 people (a coincidence!), including members and special guests. We enjoyed a buffet and drinks along with our special anniversary cake. On display were photographs and information on our latest projects.

At Sidcup Library during 2022 there was display of the society's projects, past, present and future.

To mark our 70th anniversary we have some commemorative items, including a poster and tea towel (featuring Sidcup Place) and a set of five postcards of Sidcup in the 1950s.

We had a stall at Sidcup's Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday 26 November 2022, showing off our new 70th anniversary Society mugs!

All meetings are held in St Lawrence's Community Hall, Hamilton Road, Sidcup, starting at 7.30pm.
